My Essay Essay
In the story Young Goodman Brown some really strange things happen to brown and it appears that it didn't just happen to him but to others as well. Its a situation where there could be a bunch of controversial conversations. I say this because one of the things I'm going to be talking about is about whether I think if all of the things that happened to him and around him is true or was it just a bad nightmare that he had from sleeping. In the story a series of events happen to brown that makes me wonder whats really happening but this is what I think. To me personally all the stuff that happened to him are real for the following reasons.
First reason is because of the way it all started it of in the beginning of the story. In the beginning of the story everything was fine and going the way it should have and how Brown wanted it to go. This means that he had some good moments leading up to when strange things started to happen to him. Whats puts me off and makes me think it was real is because if any of y'all have had nightmares then you guys should know that in a nightmare you never have nice moments. Its just pure hell and bad things that you wish you don't go through in real life. The suspense in this part of the story is what makes it seem scary and weird.
My second reason why I think it was real what happened to him is because how he remembers every single thing that happened to him in his journey across the path in so much detail. When something like this happens to you in real life its something that's most likely going to stay with for the rest of your life because its something that could be traumatizing. If this was a nightmare then pretty much all of the things he went through in the story he would of forgotten.
The final reason why I think its real is because the way the townspeople reacted when they saw him. In the story when brown woke up the next morning he saw that people were looking at him strangely. Also in the story it say "The next morning, young Goodman Brown came slowly into the street of Salem village, staring around him like a bewildered man." This leads me to believe even more that it wasn't a nightmare because if it was that then why would all the people be looking at him strange the next day after it happen. Also if it was a nightmare why would people even know he did that since a nightmare is only something that you experience your self not everyone.
In conclusion, these are all the reasons why I think that what Brown experienced was a real life situation and not a nightmare. This is just my opinion on this and is not something that i'm claiming to be true but from what I read the thought of it being a nightmare doesn't fully add up to me.
