Let Me Walk You Through The Pedestrian
In the story "The Pedestrian" written by Ray Bradbury what happens is something very strange and leaves you thinking about what just even happened. The theme to me sounds like he's trying to get out the message of police taking advantage of their jobs or it could possibly be something else. The plot is kind of casual in the sense that nothing to dramatic happens. The tone is serious and sort of sad. And like I said the story leaves you thinking what happened so I going explain my thoughts about it aswell.
In the story a man named Leonard leaves his house to go for a casual walk kinda late when its very dark already. He's notices that everything is empty and he is just out walking by himself. The only thing he can see is the lights flickering through the windows which was the people watching their tv at home. As he was walking a police car showed up and stopped him. The car was being driven by itself with no one in it. He was then later arrested and taken with the police car. They seem to pass by his house and Leonard even say they pass by it but noone pays attention to him and just keep going. Thats basically where it ends and leaves you thinking.
One of the messages I think he might be trying to put out is that police are taking advantage of the people in this world. I say this because I've heard the real story and what inspired Ray Bradbury to write this story in the first place. What happened is the same situation that there was an altercation with the police just like the story. Ray got really mad and went on to his house and wrote this story. So im pretty sure that when that happened Ray probably felt the same thing as me.
Another one is that Ray Bradbury probably wants to tell the people reading that now a days no one really goes out that much. In the story he talks about him seeing noone and everyone just in their house watching tv. Maybe he wants to see more people outside enjoying the sunsets and other stuff like that. Since he would go out for walks alot he must of felt lonely as well and just wanted to see someone doing the same as him and maybe like that he would't get stopped and arrested like he did.
In conclusion, these are the reasons I have for the reason I think Ray Bradbury wrote this story. He was just trying to put out a message for the police and aswell as the audience or he also just wanted to express how he felt when it came down the police when those incidents happened.
