On Self-Reliance Part 4

Today what I got from Emerson's essay was that respect is something people need but its not something easily attainable. I say this because most of the time respect is earned not something that is just given right away for no reason. Not just that but the way you earn it is hard as well. You have to do multiple things to impress or get the trust from someone.
